The projects are implemented in accordance with the Resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 23, 2021 No. PP-5001 “On measures for the implementation of the investment project ‘Construction of a 300–500 MW wind power plant in Peshku District of Bukhara Region’”, No. PP-5003 “On measures for the implementation of the investment project ‘Construction of a 500 MW wind power plant in Gijduvan District of Bukhara Region’”, as well as dated December 30, 2021 No. PP-72 “On approval of the Investment Program of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2022–2026 and introduction of new approaches and mechanisms for investment project management”.
The projects are aimed at ensuring external power supply to wind power plants with a total installed capacity of up to 500 MW, promoting the development of renewable energy sources, and reducing natural gas consumption.
Within the framework of the projects, the development and expansion of the existing power grid infrastructure are envisaged, including the conversion of the Sarimay connection point into a 500 kV substation. This will ensure reliable integration of generating capacities into the Unified Power System and improve the reliability of power supply in the region.
Within the framework of the projects, environmental and social documents have been developed in accordance with the requirements of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), including the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, as well as stakeholder engagement mechanisms. These documents are provided in the appendices below.
